There Are Always Things
This is my maiden voyage into book arts combining images, text and video. The book is a poem about our relationship to things, and how they evoke memories of pleasure as well as pain, loss as well as gain. Tucked away in the back pocket of this book one finds an “amulet” with a QR code. When the viewer scans this code with their mobile phone, they are instantly transported to a short, ethereal video that parallels the poem and gives you a deeper experience.
Stored Away and Forgotten:
In this small and unique art book, I explore memory and identity by marrying images, text and emerging QR technology. In this way I am able to create deep layers of meaning that explore the subject’s relationship to a moment and a memory that shaped her love of music. This enables me to give the viewer a more intimate connection to the story than a traditional book allows. Tucked away in the back pocket of this book one finds the “amulet” with the QR code.
